Exhibition from February to March 2010
Geometries is a thematic exhibition of a significant selection of first-level works of artists like: Ballester, Chillida, Equipo Crónica, Genovés, Guinovart, Hernández Pijuan, Mompó, Palazuelo, Plensa, Ràfols Casamada, George Rousse, Reyle, Sixeart, Tàpies, Uslé, Esteban Vicente, Villèlia and Yturralde, who approach geometry as a process and as a cycle.
The observation of geometric structures as aesthetic reference is the leitmotif of the show that brings together the work of eighteen creative artists, playing with a wide variety of formal and chromatic resources. A general process of sensitivity and geometric composition in the research of the minimum and the elementary.
In Geometries we confirm that creators try to express their mood and internal situation through a relationship between compositional forces of shapes and colours in sensitive organizations and regulations. The common concern remains in achieving maximum expressiveness with minimum possible elements, stripping their compositions from everything superfluous and applying the colour to achieve a world of memories’ evocation and sensations.
Through fragments and simple forms based on squares, rectangles, circles, ovals, stripes, lines and segments, combined and confronted rhythmically, they evoke human experiences in an exploration of the expressive potential of abstraction. Artists connect, as well, their life and their immediate surroundings: a language with an architectural origin, impregnated with emotion.
The pieces of the exhibition Geometries can be visited at Mayoral Gallery between February and March 2010, with prices around € 10,000.
